In 2006, Buffini & Company partnered with Habitat for Humanity International to build four homes in storm-ravaged Louisiana. In 2007, we built 12 more in our major market areas nationwide. And in October 2008, we're planning to do an eight-day "blitz-build" of a single home in Baton Rouge, LA.
Our first Hands of Hope project in Baton Rouge 2006 saw such incredible success we knew we had to forge ahead. So, Hands of Hope will continue bringing hope and homes to families in need. And because you're an integral part of the Buffini & Company Community, there are great opportunities for you to help.
If you're well along the road to significance and would like to volunteer, we'd love for you to fill one of the openings available. And if you're not at the point where you're able to attend, not to worry: you can still be part of the solution by making a donation.
Remembering the Baton Rouge event, Dan Bogojevich, one of the catalysts behind it all, reflects, "It's a beautiful thing to watch the people you help; to see their faces as a new hope is born. Individuals who have built homes and lives, only to lose it all – so that their few remaining possessions fit in a small car's trunk – are given an opportunity to begin again. There's a light at the end of the tunnel, and it reflects in their eyes. They have a renewed strength, resolve and confidence for the future."
And in the end, it all comes down to people reaching out in a singleness of purpose to help other people in need. To volunteer or donate is a chance to give back, because you realize you've been given so much. If you're excited about the possibilities and would like to help out, there are a few things to know that'll help you prepare:
The Baton Rouge "blitz-build" will be an eight-day, hands-on effort with volunteers from the Buffini & Company Community as well as Servant Leaders from its staff. Keep in mind that those who participate don't need to be construction “experts," even though we'll be working on framing, roofing, siding, painting, and landscaping. Onsite volunteers are also needed as medical first responders and to help with registration, clean up, and food service. Volunteers are responsible for their travel and lodging expenses for this project, while Buffini & Company will cover lunches, onsite supplies, and T-shirts.
